As a Spacecraft Development Engineer, you will work on all aspects of spacecraft development while collaborating closely with a fast-paced, agile team that strives to make a high-performance vehicle from a clean sheet design.
Responsibilities:
- Understand and help formulate all phases of a spacecraft mission
- Help to drive requirements definition, system level trade studies, vehicle level testing, risk mitigation strategies, and on-orbit operations planning
- Own spacecraft or major subsystem through all phases of the lifecycle
- Work with the design and manufacturing teams to produce hardware
- Ensure that the performance and function of the hardware and software meets intent
- System level test preparation, planning and execution
- Resolve technical issues with innovative and resourceful solutions
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science
- Hands-on experience working with mechanical, fluids, or electrical systems
- Experience with CAD to design hardware
- Demonstrated ability in conceptual design, fabrication and testing of hardware
- Demonstrated ability of taking project ownership and working well in small team
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, or electrical engineering with emphasis on laboratory and/or practical applications
- Proficiency in basic principles of fluids, thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanics, and materials
- Familiarity with analysis programming such as MATLAB, Excel, etc.
- Prior experience in development and/or testing
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Additional Requirements:
Flexible schedule and willing to travel as needed
