As a Structural Design Engineer you will be laying out and designing primary and ancillary structures and systems while working closely with a fast-paced, agile team that strives to make high-performance spacecraft from clean sheet designs.
Responsibilities:
- Designing and packaging of primary and secondary structures and systems
- Analyze engineering data to develop efficient structures and appropriate load paths
- Determine appropriate materials for designs
- Perform hand calculations to determine appropriate member sizes
- Produce manufacturing drawings with full specifications for production
- Update designs and documentation as required
- Work with suppliers to produce components
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design
- Proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new tools
- Ability to model complex shapes including lofting and surfacing
- Familiarity with a wide set of manufacturing processes such as machining, additive, welding, forming, and composite construction
- Understanding of GD&T and tolerancing

- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively cross teams
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Creative design solutions to complex problems
- Design of composite structures
- Ability to work with complex assemblies
- Experience with Siemens NX
- Prior experience with spacecraft design
- Experience working on a launch vehicle or satellite development effort
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
Additional Requirements:
- Flexible schedule and willing to travel as needed
