As a Thermal Analysis Engineer you will develop thermal models and implement thermal management solutions while working closely with a fast-paced, agile team that strives to make a high-performance spacecraft from a clean sheet design.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain thermal models of spacecraft, systems, and components
- Determine appropriate physical properties and boundary conditions
- Analyze test data to determine model accuracy and improve model fidelity
- Collaborate with design engineers to implement effective thermal management strategies
- Communicate with suppliers to determine thermal properties/requirements of components
- Document thermal analyses and designs
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
- 3+ years of experience in thermal design
- Proficiency in CAD software with ability to learn new tools
- Capable of performing structural and thermal analysis in support of design
- Extensive understanding of different mechanisms of heat transfer
- In order to be successful in this role, you should be someone who thrives in ambiguity and is able to lead their own projects into completion
- Demonstrated experience working collaboratively across teams
- Ability to communicate technical challenges, explain rationale and/or resolve concerns
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Graduate work in numerical methods or heat transfer
- Creative solutions to complex problems
- Experience with successful thermal management strategies
- Experience with Star CCM+ or ANSYS Fluent
- Prior experience with spacecraft design
- Experience working on a launch vehicle or satellite development effort
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
